Fitting heat shield for 1897 trench conversion. Recently picked up a cut down 1897 takedown model in well used shape for a reasonable price. Planning to add a heat shield but unsure of how to go about cutting groves in the barrel for the screws. I’ve seen a few examples of people cutting in groves with files which does work but looks a hack job.
